Costa del Sol:
Spain's "Sunshine Coast" offers pleasures for all, from lively entertainment
and nightlife to stunning sightseeing and beautiful scenery.
The apartments are located a short walk away to the beach
TORREMOLINOS
Torremolinos is probably the most popular resort on the Costa del Sol,
only 15 minutes from Malaga Airport, Torremolinos is easily accessible
to Malaga as well as other beach resorts along the Costa del Sol,
these include Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Calahonda and Marbella, further
down the Coast is Gibralter.
Torremolinos is the fun capital of the Costa del Sol, packed with
bars, English-style pubs, restaurants, discos, and nightclubs.
Torremolinos beaches are wide and sandy and stretch 7 kilometres in
length and are perfect for swimming and water sports - there are many
beach front cafes and restaurants, the La Carihuela area, a former
fishing village along the promenade is especially well known for
seafood and is highly recommended.
Central to Torremolinos is the bustling Plaza Costa del Sol, La
Nogalera and the neighbouring Calle San Miguel, lined with pavement
cafes (after a day on the beach, this is a great place to relax with a
cold beer and watch the world go by), there are all kinds of shops
here from souvenir emporiums to designer boutiques.
For Golfing, the Costa del Sol is also home to some of the best Golf
courses in Europe, and for the children, Torremolinos has Theme Parks
such as Tivoli World and the Aqua Park.
Local excursions from Torremolinos include trips to Gibralter, Mijas,
Granada, the Caves at Nerja and Seville, even boat trips across to
Morocco.
Costa del Sol translated from Spanish literally means the "Coast of
Sun" the region is so popular for the Costa enjoys more than 300 days
of sun averaging at about 23ºC (73ºF) - the temperature soars well
above this in season.
We enjoy going to the British Bar which is just around the corner
for a pre-dinner drink...the new owner, Richard, is very friendly
adding to the friendly atmosphere...
Torremolinos has many good restaurants to choose from... "La
Crema" is one we would say is a must...
MALAGA & THE COAST
As Coastal Apartments is in Torremolinos, there is easy access to the
city of Malaga, (the underground train station is 5 minutes away from
the apartments and the trip by train takes only 15 minutes to the
centre of Malaga City), the train also stops at the coastal resorts of
Benalmadena and Fuengirola. Marbella is just a short distance from
here.
Malaga is one of the eight regional capitals of Andalucia and is the
largest coastal city in the south. Malaga is located near Seville and
Granada.
The local residents of Malaga (known as Malagueños) are known for
enjoying the nightlife in the city as there is a great variation in
bars, restaurants and bodegas, which are usually busy throughout the
week.
The famous painter Pablo Picasso was born here as well as the Actor
Antonio Banderas, Malagueños are particularly proud of their world
famous citizens.
Attractions in Malaga include the Picasso Foundation (the house where
Picasso was born) and the Picasso Museum. Malaga Cathedral is a
popular tourist attraction as well as the Malaga Bullfighting Ring,
other Museums of interest are the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum
of Contemporary Arts, more family orientated is the Malaga Aquarium.
Malaga is also well known for great shops, boutiques and the markets
that take place weekly.
Marbella is just a short distance away from here.
Going the other way towards Nerja the beaches are less commercial
but you have to walk down from the road to get to them.
ANDALUCIA
For those wishing to explore Andalucia, our accommodation is ideally
situated for access to Mijas, Gibralter, Nerja, Antequera, Ronda,
Alora, and the lakes at El Chorro are all well worth a
visit...(stunning scenery... a camera is a must here!). Just 20
minutes inland is a vast contrast to Torremolinos and the Costa del
Sol and is well worth exploring.
We provide all information you would need as to the many various places to
visit, whether it be the nightlife or rural Spain...
